On October 10, the Discovery Channel will air a special on gun culture in America starring Washington Times columnist and National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent. In doing so, the channel will give mainstream treatment to a divisive right-wing figure who has made countless inflammatory remarks on the topics of race, religion, LGBT equality, politics, equal treatment of women, immigration, and vigilantism.
From the Press Release:
With more than 40 million albums sold, Ted Nugent is a rock and roll legend — but music is just one of his passions. He’s also a strong and vocal advocate for guns, hunting and all things America.
In Discovery Channel’s all-new one-hour special TED NUGENT’S GUN COUNTRY, premiering October 10th at 10PM E/P, viewers will get an inside look at American gun culture through the eyes of staunch second amendment defender Ted Nugent.
Wow, what a nice little plug for “staunch second amendment defender” and LEGENDARY racist, Ted Nugent, who just loves “all things America” (except its black president, Muslims, liberals, forest creatures and women). Follow the link to see a very long list of hateful, racist, misogynist, and downright insane rants and raves by Ted Nugent, Douchebag Extraordinaire. I wrote about his borderline psychotic interview with reporter Jeff Glor, in which he alternated between slightly bizarre to frighteningly insane behavior. Mitt Romney actively sought and received the endorsement of draft-dodger poopy pants., along with sub-par musician Kid Rock (that’s mean, but he made millions by recycling other people’s music and I just don’t GET it). It’s a sad commentary on politics when a candidate publicly seeks the endorsement of such a divisive and hateful person. It speaks volumes about the direction the Grand Old Party has taken.
Nobody has more absolute fun with guns than my family. Like millions of American families, these utilitarian tools and works of art serve us well in all manner of good, clean, legal, safe fun, recreation and competition. Our American Dream is measured in ballistics. —Ted Nugent
Inviting Hillary Clinton to “ride my AK” is part of all that good, clean fun! I’m willing to bet that this Discovery production will paint Nugent as a lovable oddball who’s just gung-ho for Freedom and Gun Rights. I’ve long held the opinion that he is inciting violence against the President of the United States. He has been visited by the Secret Service over potentially threatening remarks about the president, but no charges were pressed. He has a very long history of nutty behavior and abhorrent opinions, dating back to the very beginning of his long career, so it’s probably safe to assume he is ALL talk, but for Discovery to give this person positive airtime is indicative of the piss-poor quality of American television.
